3 Worst Things To Look for in Skincare Ingredient List

3 Worst Things To Look for in Skincare Ingredient List

1. FRAGRANCE/PERFUME

Although luxury skincare is often closely connected with a beautiful scent, unfortunately, fragrance in skincare may lead to skin allergies.

Firstly, you never know what is behind the label «fragrance» in the ingredient list. This is how brands can hide anything, including pure alcohol, in their formulas.

Secondly, 1 out of 10 people usually have a substantial adverse reaction to fragrance in skincare. By the way, that is why our products are fragrance-free!

2. ALCOHOL

It’s important to note that not all forms of alcohol are dangerous for your skin. Moreover, some alcohol derivatives like Cetyl Alcohol can be beneficial since they trap water under the skin.

However, pure alcohol (labeled as «alcohol» in the ingredient list) is terrible for you, and it leads to skin dryness, redness, and irritation.

3. UREA

Cheap brands often use urea as an effective preservative. Effective preservative it is, but it also contains formaldehyde, which is highly toxic for our skin and can lead to chronic dermatitis.

That is why none of our Sumus cosmetics have any UREA, pure alcohols and irritating perfumes.
